Ingredients
Scale
Slider Base
- 18 King’s Hawaiian brand sweet rolls (from two 12-count packages)
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
Filling
- 1-1¼ pounds deli sliced roast beef (no more than ⅛ inch thick or sandwich sliced)
- 10 slices non-smoked provolone cheese (approximately â…› inch thick, from an 8-ounce package)
Sauce
- ½ cup salted butter
- 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
- 1½ tablespoons bottled barbecue sauce (Sweet Baby Ray’s Original used)
- 1 tablespoon poppy seed
- 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the sliders.
- Prepare Rolls: Slice the King’s Hawaiian rolls in half, separating the tops from the bottoms. Place all the bottoms of the rolls close together in a 9×13-inch baking pan to form a base. Set the tops aside.
- Apply Mayonnaise: Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise evenly over all the bottom halves of the rolls in the pan to keep the sandwich moist and flavorful.
- Add Roast Beef: Fold the roast beef slices as needed to fit onto each roll bottom, placing 1 to 2 slices on each. This folding helps with easy pulling apart of sliders later.
- Layer Cheese and Tops: Evenly lay the provolone cheese slices over the roast beef, then place the tops of the rolls on each slider. Press gently to keep sliders together and ensure even heating.
- Make Sauce: Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the dijon mustard, barbecue sauce, poppy seeds, and worcestershire sauce. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce just begins to boil, then remove from heat.
- Coat Sliders: Pour the warm buttery sauce evenly over the slider tops using a spoon or pastry brush to spread the poppy seeds evenly.
- Bake Covered: Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes to warm through and meld flavors.
- Finish Baking: Remove the foil and continue baking the sliders for an additional 5-10 minutes until the tops are lightly browned and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Remove and serve warm.
Notes
- For easier slicing and assembling, slightly chill the roast beef before folding and layering on the rolls.
- You can customize the cheese choice; Swiss or cheddar would also work well.
- Use a pastry brush to evenly coat the slider tops with sauce and poppy seeds for a nice finish.
- If you prefer extra saucy sliders, you can double the sauce ingredients.
- Serve these sliders warm with a side of pickles or coleslaw for a complete meal.
