Ingredients
Scale
Fish and Seasoning
- 4 fillets mild white fish (such as sole or tilapia; salmon can be used with adjusted cooking time)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (can substitute with another oil)
- 1 teaspoon salt (adjust based on dietary needs)
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper (or substitute with cayenne for heat)
- 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning (highly recommended, alternatives available)
- 1 teaspoon paprika (smoked paprika for added depth)
Garnish
- 1 medium lemon (for juice, lime can be used as a substitute)
- 1 tablespoon parsley (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat grill or skillet: Preheat your grill, skillet, or grill pan over medium-high heat to ensure a hot cooking surface for perfect sear and cooking.
- Season the fish: Brush one side of the fish fillets lightly with olive oil, then season generously with salt, pepper, Old Bay seasoning, and paprika to infuse flavor.
- Cook first side: Place the seasoned side down onto the hot grill or skillet; then brush the unseasoned side with olive oil and season it similarly to prepare the other side while the first side cooks.
- Flip and cook second side: Cook for approximately 2 minutes until the bottom is golden brown, then carefully flip the fish and cook for an additional 2 minutes to finish cooking through.
- Garnish and serve: Remove the fish from the grill and garnish with fresh parsley, drizzling with lemon juice before serving to add freshness and brightness to the dish.
Notes
- Adjust salt quantity to meet your dietary requirements.
- If using salmon, increase cooking time slightly to ensure it is cooked through.
- Substitute lime juice for lemon juice for a different citrus flavor.
- Old Bay seasoning can be replaced with a seafood seasoning blend of your choice.
- Cooking times may vary depending on thickness of fish fillets.
